Sable-3.12 08.10072014 by killhellokitty
Sable-3.12 08.10072014
Sable and SableNC are carbon and black tone themes for Gnome 3.12.  It includes Sable a multi-accented theme.  And SableNC a gray scale theme.
You will likely need to adjust your monitors contrast till most of the theme appears as tones of black, only the buttons should appear as a dark shade of gray.
Sable uses a carbon and black base with copper and turquoise accents.
SableNC uses carbon and black base with gray.
Icons are Flattr by DevianTN7k1
Please report Bugs!

Ubuntu Unity This theme doesn't work well in Unity due to Ubuntu's patched gtk3 and its use of a much older version of Nautilus.  I do not know how well it will work in 14.10.  But it works well in Ubuntu with Gnome-Shell. FIXED

As always your comments are encouraged.  Thanks killhellokitty!

INCLUDES
  • Gtk2 & Gtk3 Themes
  • Metacity/Mutter/Unity

REQUIREMENTS
  • gtk-3.12.*
  • gtk-2.24.17(or newer)
  • gnome-themes-standard-3.12*(adwaita engine)
  • pixbuf-engine or the gtk(2)-engines package
  • gtk-engine-murrine-0.98.2(or newer)

INSTALATION
  • Download the Sable Theme package from the top of this page.
Unzip the archive, and copy the Sable folder to '/usr/share/themes/' for system-wide installation, or to '~/.themes' for individual use installation.
  • Arch Linux & Manjaro
    Install from Arch Linux AUR
If using yaourt, type in terminal: yaourt -S sable
  • Ubuntu 14.10
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install sable-gtk

  •  *For Ubuntu you will need to edit the /usr/share/Sable*/gtk-main.css file.  Open it in your favorite text editor and go to the bottom of the page.  You must then uncomment line #226 (remove the forward '/*' and the backward */ to enable working tabs for Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Software Center Installation
  • In Terminal as super-user Backup the original folder and name it "software-center.backup":
    sudo cp -a /usr/share/software-center /usr/share/software-center.backup
  • Install the SableNC Theme for the Software-Center This assumes SableNC-3.12 is installed to 'usr/share/themes':
    sudo cp /usr/share/themes/SableNC/Software-Center/softwarecenter.css /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css && sudo cp /usr/share/themes/SableNC/Software-Center/stipple.png /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/art/stipple.png
  • Start/Restart the Ubuntu Software-Center
  • To revert changes:
    sudo rm -r /usr/share/software-center && mv /usr/share/software-center.backup /usr/share/software-center

Delorean-dark-3.12 5.08242014 by killhellokitty
Delorean-dark-3.12 5.08242014
This version is built from Delorean-3.8 and the Adwaita theme.

Theme includes bothe Dark and Light versions of DeLorean.  Enjoy.
This theme was intended to include the DeLorean-Noir theme also, but a failing hard-drive and intense frustration have forced me to exclude it untill 3.14(hopefully).

Please report Bugs!
As always your comments are encouraged.  Thanks killhellokitty!

INCLUDES
  • Gtk2 & Gtk3 Themes
  • Metacity/Mutter/Unity
  • Xfwm4 Theme

  • Thunderbird Theme

  • gtk-engine-murrine-0.98.2(or newer)

INSTALATION
  • Download the Delorean-Dark Theme package from the top of this page.
Unzip the archive, and copy both the delorean-dark-3.12 and the delorean-light-3.12 folders to '/usr/share/themes/' for system-wide installation, or to '~/.themes' for individual use installation.

CHANGELOG

08-16-2014  First upload.
08-17-2014  Added Unity theme, and fixed sidebar cell when hovered.
08-18-2014  Bug fixes including highlight of text in entries.  Cleaning of cells within entries and spinbuttons.  Reworked the suggested button.
08-20-2014  Themed the Xfce panel.  Added Xfwm4 Theme.  Added Ubuntu Software Center Theme

Ubuntu Software Center Installation
  • In Terminal as super-user Backup the original folder and name it "software-center.backup":
    sudo cp -a /usr/share/software-center /usr/share/software-center.backup
  • Install the DeLorean Theme for the Software-Center This assumes DeLoreand-Dark-3.12 is installed to 'usr/share/themes':
    sudo cp /usr/share/themes/delorean-dark-3.12/Software-Center/softwarecenter.css /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css && sudo cp /usr/share/themes/delorean-dark-3.12/Software-Center/stipple.png /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/art/stipple.png
  • Start/Restart the Ubuntu Software-Center
  • To revert changes:
    sudo rm -r /usr/share/software-center && mv /usr/share/software-center.backup /usr/share/software-center

Thunderbird Theme Installation
Thunderbird theme uses userChrome.css & userContenet.css files to make changes to the theme on top of the default Thunderbird theme.
  • Unpack the delorean-dark theme package.  Inside locate the 'chrome' folder.
  • Paste the folder inside '~/.thunderbird/xSomeNumbers.default'.
  • If there is a 'chrome' folder in this location, simply merge its contents.
  • Restart Thunderbird for the theme to take effect
  • User Profile You may desire to create a new User-Profile for the DeLorean Theme since you can't override this theme without removing the 'chrome' folder.
  • Start Thunderbird with a trailing '-p', for example: thunderbird -p
  • A small gui will appear.  Choose create profile and follow the instructions.
  • If you would like this gui to appear at every start-up so you may choose your profile, un-tick 'Don't ask at startup', or you can always start the app with the '-p' to change profiles again.

Animus-3.12_04.08192014_1 by killhellokitty
Animus-3.12_04.08192014_1
This is the latest version of Animus for Gtk-3.12.
Animus is entirely colored with shades of Jade.  No Black or White are used at all.  This gives it a smooth appearance.

A Gnome-Shell theme by cboman57 to compliment Animus Gtk is available HERE

Special features include rounded and animated menu-buttons.  Also toolbar-buttons with images are round, as shown above with Audacious.
File-borwsers themed for Gtk3 include Nautilus, Nemo, and SpaceFm.

Monitors:This theme requires a good color monitor to pop.  Many like my laptop, have terrible color resolution and this theme looks washed out(one of the dangers with dark themes).  You have been warned.

Comments are welcomed and encouraged.
Thanks- killhellokitty

thanks for your great work on delorean 3.8. do you plan to release the next version? it would be nice, i got used to see your theme in updates and enjoy the changes. i'd like to suggest you could make the theme more consistent - i mean the toolbars are in two styles - e.g. in nautilus and thunar. i prefer nautilus style. i think you should drop the glass elements (toolbar&toolbar buttons, taskbar) (leave them only in tabs). btw. active tab in gedit is dark blue, shouldnt it be black like in other apps? the last thing is color of selection on lists. in previous version of your theme it was lighter, more blue and i think it was better. of course you dont have to agree with my suggestions. im just saying because i want your theme to be the best theme ever. it has the chance, but currently its the second one, after the meditterranean dark theme, because its less consistent. btw. i've just made an account to contact you. i should have done it earlier because im also a designer, but of 3d graphics. ps.2. the most amazing thing in your theme is right-click menu and the selection - i love this!

After switching to crunchbang (debian) from xubuntu, your dorian-theme gtk2 theme did not work properly. Could you please add a single command to install your theme requirements (like apt-get blah, blah, and blah)? It's tough to try finding your requirement package names. Thanks!

dorian-theme is, in my opinion, the best dark linux theme currently available. Could you make an openbox theme for the dorian-retro theme? I don't enjoy using metacity for window borders.

Thank you for your kind words. I just finished the openbox themes for DeLorean-Dark-3.8, so yeah I can give it a try and see what I can come up with for Dorian. Please keep in mind that it is not possible to replicate the look of the dorian-retro theme in openbox. But, again I will see what I can come up with in the next few days.
-Cheers!

I would suggest reusing some elements of your delorean-dark openbox theme to try to make the dorian-retro theme(which will look very little like your metacity theme). Try to make window borders blend in with your gtk theme, like in Delorean-dark. Thanks!

A suggestion from me to try to vaguely replicate the look of the dorian-retro theme would be to reuse some of your delorean-dark openbox theme and use a darker blue color for the window buttons and menu entries. Try keeping consistent with the dorian-retro gradient. Thanks!
