Delorean-dark-3.12 5.08242014 by killhellokitty Delorean-dark-3.12 5.08242014 by killhellokitty
This version is built from Delorean-3.8 and the Adwaita theme.

Theme includes bothe Dark and Light versions of DeLorean.  Enjoy.
This theme was intended to include the DeLorean-Noir theme also, but a failing hard-drive and intense frustration have forced me to exclude it untill 3.14(hopefully).

Please report Bugs!
As always your comments are encouraged.  Thanks killhellokitty!

08-16-2014  First upload.
08-17-2014  Added Unity theme, and fixed sidebar cell when hovered.
08-18-2014  Bug fixes including highlight of text in entries.  Cleaning of cells within entries and spinbuttons.  Reworked the suggested button.
08-20-2014  Themed the Xfce panel.  Added Xfwm4 Theme.  Added Ubuntu Software Center Theme

Ubuntu Software Center Installation
  • In Terminal as super-user Backup the original folder and name it "software-center.backup":
    sudo cp -a /usr/share/software-center /usr/share/software-center.backup
  • Install the DeLorean Theme for the Software-Center This assumes DeLoreand-Dark-3.12 is installed to 'usr/share/themes':
    sudo cp /usr/share/themes/delorean-dark-3.12/Software-Center/softwarecenter.css /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.css && sudo cp /usr/share/themes/delorean-dark-3.12/Software-Center/stipple.png /usr/share/software-center/ui/gtk3/art/stipple.png
  • Start/Restart the Ubuntu Software-Center
  • To revert changes:
    sudo rm -r /usr/share/software-center && mv /usr/share/software-center.backup /usr/share/software-center

Thunderbird Theme Installation
    Thunderbird theme uses userChrome.css & userContenet.css files to make changes to the theme on top of the default Thunderbird theme.
  • Unpack the delorean-dark theme package.  Inside locate the 'chrome' folder.
  • Paste the folder inside '~/.thunderbird/xSomeNumbers.default'.
  • If there is a 'chrome' folder in this location, simply merge its contents.
  • Restart Thunderbird for the theme to take effect
  • User Profile You may desire to create a new User-Profile for the DeLorean Theme since you can't override this theme without removing the 'chrome' folder.
  • Start Thunderbird with a trailing '-p', for example: thunderbird -p
  • A small gui will appear.  Choose create profile and follow the instructions.
  • If you would like this gui to appear at every start-up so you may choose your profile, un-tick 'Don't ask at startup', or you can always start the app with the '-p' to change profiles again.

fixed, thanks.
I'm using delorean-dark 3.14 in manjaro xfce gtk2 and I love your themes! Can't use any other. But! How can I change the theme to have the different coloured file rows in thunar as in this theme Delorean-dark-3.12 5.08242014 ?

Actually, nvm, I just found out it doesnt work in certain list views. But works fine in "View as detailed list"

near the top( near line #90,after GtkTreeView::allow-rules) of the gtkrc file paste this:
   GtkTreeView::odd_row_color = "#444444"
   GtkTreeView::even_row_color = "#3e3e3e"

you can adjust the colors if you like.  This will give you different colored rows.  diviant art likes to change a double colon and and o into a emotican. Follow the bottom line example.

Yes it is in the sidebarrc.

Hello. It's very nice theme, but whet I open several tabs in a terminal or nautilus it's impossible to see what tab is active. Is it possible to add any shadows to selected tab?

This is by far the best dark theme I have ever used.   The titlebar for GTK3 is really sweet.  Too bad it can't be done for Xfce's xf4wm.
killhellokitty Featured By Owner Sep 30, 2014  Hobbyist Interface Designer
Thanks, Xfce will slowly be changing to Gtk3, Its just gonna take a while  btw, I love the mouse :-)

You are welcome, glad you like it.
This is a beautiful theme, and I'm glad it's up and up for 3.12. It's become my go-to, but I've begun mixing and matching older versions.

My only question/critique is this: in another version sometime past, (I can't remember the exact number, sorry) Pidgin was themed such that the conversation and text field widgets were suitably dark with contrasting light text. That seems to not have been the case for some time now. May I either a) make a request that that be reverted or b) ask you how to change that for myself? =)

I'm glad you enjoy the theme!
For pidgin open /gtk-2.0/gtkrc and somewhere near or at the bottom add this:

style "pidgin_entry" #text and background color for IM window
    xthickness        = 3
    ythickness       = 4

  base[NORMAL]         = "#00ff00"
  text[NORMAL]      = "#0000ff"

Of course  change the #hex colors to whatever you like.

I tried it out and so far i like the subtlety of 3.10 a little more.  Can you tell us how to change the colors in the same way we did for 3.10 or is that not ready yet? I changed it as i would have in 3.10 and it didn't look right.
killhellokitty Featured By Owner Aug 18, 2014  Hobbyist Interface Designer
I went back to the style of 3.8 for this theme.  I have another incomplete version based on 3.10 but it wont be ready till gnome3.14.  The colors in this theme can't be changed, hopefully I'll have that capability fixed with 3.14.  We will see.

Ah, it gets to gnome 3.12 finally. Thanks very much!
killhellokitty Featured By Owner Aug 17, 2014  Hobbyist Interface Designer
Yeah, it took a while this time, but it will be my first theme for gnome3.14.
You are very welcome!  Cheers!
